IN MEMORIAM

It is with profound sadness that Onteora reports the passing of Luca, the much-loved vice-president of our Canine Division.

Luca was known to all as our official wedding tour guide, as he valiantly led prospective couples around the property, in and out, up and down in all seasons.  Charging before the touring couples, he would bravely defend them from ambush by bears, rabbits, and chipmunks.  We estimate he lead over 800 tours during his 12 years of loyal duty. Even until his last week, he rose to the call of a tour.  Our tours have never quite been the same since.

The leaves are falling, and the days get shorter and shorter.  Soon the gray skies of winter will settle in.  But for now...

It was only a matter of time before one of those drones would appear to give us our first real bird's eye view of Onteora. But it's also a wonderfully-shot video that we think really captures the spirit of the weddings that happen here.

Just in time for Spring!!!

Just in time for spring, Onteora unveils its new bridal suite!

 We’re gone off on a whole new style of interior decorating with the opening of our newly-remodeled bridal suite.  Note the color-coordinated pottery, evangelical-approved twin beds, and rabbit ears!  What other bridal suite can boast rabbit ears? Not to mention the state of the art communication system.

A special feature that will be most appreciated by newly-weds is the cement-block-totally-sound-proof-walls.   Go ahead! Have all the fun you want!

PS: It may look like our manager, Jeremy, has gained a little weight over the winter.  But that’s just the wide-angle lens. Really.

Sometimes you don’t know you’re entertaining angels until the New York Times tells you.

All we remember is a fun wedding, with a laid-back groom and thoughtful bride, and weather that was a little iffy.  Then the Times announced today that the groom is a You-Tube comedy super star.  Who’da known?

It's really quiet once the 4564 guests leave....

It's just us, the dogs, and an occasional b&b guest here between November and April.

And some nice sunsets at cocktail hour.

 Looking Back...

Looking back at 2014, it's hard to pick out one wedding, or one couple that stood out above the rest.  But above all of them (literally), and the secret star at every wedding was our new, amazing BIG ASS FAN.

It kept the hot grooms cool in July, and the cool brides warm in October, and the tablecloths just waved ever so slightly in its gentle wake.

And it's the closest we'll ever get to air conditioning here in the Catskills.

HIGH FASHION HITS THE CATSKILLS

Finally that Cosmo shoot that invaded Onteora in May has arrived on the stands.  The cover, believe it or not, was shot in our wedding pavilion, which was converted into a full-fledged photo studio.

Look inside the magazine for pictures of Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev vamping it up at our appropriately spooky fish pond, and posing dramatically in front of our mountain view.
